"OCZ Core Series SSD Edition"?!?!
By ksherman on 7/21/2008 9:54:07 AM , Rating: 3
Why is this the "OCZ Core Series SSD Edition" when you have two reviews up, with both being extremely limited and short reviews that offer us barely a glance at what these drives can do?

No kidding. Odd, if you ask me.

also found those reviews very limited and not really helpfull
would be nice to seeing them compared to a wider array of SSD and harddisks in multiple situations that favor either transfer rate, access times, or a mix of both.

They aren't reviews. They are "previews". Something is better than nothing, no?

Understandable, but still doesn't explain the need for the "Edition" moniker for the headline...

An "Edition" is normally used when a hot new item/product is introduced and there are one or more reviews/previews available. The OCC Core fits into this category.

Last week, we had a "ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 Edition" with five previews of the card.

I just want to know

Why they call this a disk drive. Ok yeah, its designed to replace your old hard disk, but it has no disk in it.

Its SSD solid state storage. Why bring the "disk" moniker into play

Where did you read Disk Drive ? In the pictures it says Solid State Drive...

Some call it Solid State Disk instead of Solid State Drive. It's just like how some called a hard drive a hard disk or hard disk drive.

It's not really like that at all, because the hard drive actually has disks (platters), while the solid state drive has none.

I'm not really sure why we are making such a big deal of it. I think everyone knows what we're talking about. Those who don't should move along.

Not bad

The performance/price ratio is getting a lot better on SSD's with these core series. I'm sure the Intel SSD's are going to be a lot faster, but I really doubt the price will be that cheap.

It seems they got a Foxconn A79A-S motherboard with a SB750 chip on it to test.

I jut read that and I am impressed already. Can't wait for the in-depth review.

I have been looking at upgrading my computer for Fallout 3 and I may just go all out with a Phenom with a 750SB board, I deffinatly like how easy the controls are.

"If you look at the last five years, if you look at what major innovations have occurred in computing technology, every single one of them came from AMD. Not a single innovation came from Intel." -- AMD CEO Hector Ruiz in 2007
